The Puli (pronounced poolee - plural Pulik) was bred in Hungary as a herder and drover.
Size:
Males: 16 to 18 inches in height at the shoulder.
Females: 15 to 17 inches at the shoulder.
Colors:
Only the solid colors of rusty black, black, all shades of gray and white are
acceptable.
Coat:
Outer coat is wavy or curly, but never silky. Undercoat is soft, woolly and
dense. The coat clumps together easily and if allowed to develop naturally
will form cords in the adult. The cords are wooly, varying in shape and
thickness, should be very long, reaching the ground in some areas.
Temperament:
Not overly friendly or outgoing with dogs or people.
Very loyal to owner.
When well trained are usually trustworthy off lead.
Can be destructive if not properly trained.
Can be very vocal.
Excellent as guard dogs.
Should not be trusted with small children.
Usually not difficult to housebreak.
Not usually good with other animals.

Excellent candidate.

Hip & Shoulder Displasia, Allergies, Epilepsy, PRA, cataracts.
Summary:
This breed is for the serious fancier. It requires regular work and exercise. Grooming of this dog is not to be undertaken by the novice.
If looking for a Conformation Show dog, this is an excellent choice.
If looking for a Pet/Companion Dog, a fair choice.
If looking for an Obedience Dog, an good choice.
